Art: Amazing Japanese Paddy Field / Crop Art
3 Aug 2007
Check out these cool paddy field art in Japan.. The tradition in the town of Inakadate, dates back to 1993. This artwork was created by planting different varieties of rice, including the purple and yellow-leafed Kodaimai rice and the green-leafed tsugaru-roman variety. Amazing!

Artworks in previous years have included Mona Lisa and 18th century works by Japanese masters Sharaku and Utamaro.

Reproductions of 18th century..

The Great Wave of Kanagawa is a major feature in this year’s rice field exhibition in Japan.

In 2006, the gods of Fujin and Raijin created by more than 8,000 villagers.

here’s a closer look at the crop..And unlike crop circles, it take months of planning and planting began in May. The works of art are so huge they are only visible from the air and will be in place until September, when the crop is harvested.
