A Leader’s First Responsibility Is To Define Reality By Dr John C Maxwell

29 Jan 2009

Leadership, John C Maxwell, God, Responsibility, Leading, Problem-solving, Game Plan, Goals, Planning, Commitment, Personal Development, Character Growth The first time I heard that it is the leader’s responsibility to define reality was from leadership expert and author Max DePree. His assertion made sense to me instantly, and I agreed with it. But that doesn’t mean I was naturally good at it. Of all the lessons I’ve learned about leadership, this one has been the most difficult. I could be the poster child for positive thinking. I am wired to give hope and encourage others. But at the age of fifty-four, I finally learned my lesson! Read the rest of this entry »

SEO: The 4 Steps To A Website Brand Plan

SEO: The 4 Steps To A Website Brand PlanBranding Starts With Thinking Backwards
Most people like to start a project at the beginning and work their way through until they reach the end. Makes sense, or does it? If you don’t start with where you want to end-up, it’s unlikely you’ll ever get where you want to go. Remember our cabbage? Planning a shopping to trip to Home Depot because they got cool stuff, doesn’t help if what you want is a cabbage. Branding is no different. If you don’t start with how you want your audience to think about you, they will probably never think about you at all. So now that we got that straight let’s start our plan where it makes sense, the end. Read the rest of this entry »

I had always talked about my job a lot at home, and my young daughter had always expressed great interest. So I thought it would be a treat for her to spend the day with me at the office. Since I wanted it to be a surprise, I didn’t tell her where we were going, just that it would be fun. Although usually a bit shy, she seemed excited to meet each colleague I introduced. On the way home, however, she seemed somewhat down. Read the rest of this entry »
