How to avoid Blog Comment Spam?

Lately, I got loads of spam in my blog comment, some are really unrevelant and some funny link, so I added this comment SPAM control plugin called “SPAM KARMA”.. hope it will help reduce the spam comments in this blog site.. If you want to get the source code, check out this link . Anyone else have better suggestions to avoid these spammers?
