The majority of exercisers today still rely on long duration moderate paced aerobic exercise as their primary routine to burn fat fast. But recent studies have shown that this is a big, I mean big mistake. In fact, you could say that the whole aerobics explosion of a few decades past was one of the biggest mistakes in the health and fitness industry. Why?
There are several reasons, but I’ll focus on the two main issues here. When you exercise at a moderate pace for extended periods of time (as in the typically recommended percent of your target heart rate), your body is burning fat during the exercise. While this may sound good, it’s actually bad news. Read the rest of this entry »

got this forwarded mail from my dad.. read on to know more about the current A H1N1 flu virus..
Dear FRIENDS,
The message below is meant to update us on the current pandemic, H1N1 so that we can minimize the exposure to it for us as well as for those around us. I suggest that all of us be familiar with this issue and address it accordingly and that we do not take this lightly.
1) Can we distinguish between regular and H1N1 flu, without a lab test?
No, the flu is the flu, but there are variations in presentation. Some symptoms such as cough, runny nose, fever, body aches, fatigue, vomiting, diarrhoea occur more or less in every flu patient, but may present differently by different people. Some infected people have very mild symptoms, some in between, and a small minority, probably less than 10 per cent, have severe features including the dangerous pneumonia.

Over the years, various studies have suggested that people who regularly consume cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, cabbage, turnips, bok choy, etc.) have lower rates of many cancers, including breast and prostate cancer. Researchers have investigated cruciferous vegetables in an attempt to identify the active agent(s) that account for this cancer-protective effect. As it turns out, cruciferous vegetables are unique in that they contain compounds called sulforaphane and indole-3-carbinol. Both of these natural agents enhance the body’s ability to detoxify cancer-causing chemicals, but indole-3-carbinol in particular exhibits other impressive anti-cancer effects that should be recognized. Here are some simple and effective tips that could redefine your concept of health to a greater extent.
1. Move your body. Walk your dog; chase your kids; toss balls with friends, mow the lawn. Do anything that moves your limbs as it is an effective fitness tool and a stress buster.
2. Cut fat by avoiding fried foods, burgers and fatty meats. Opt for lower fat versions such as substitute butter, fat free cheeses and mayonnaise.
3. Smoking is injurious to health, so quit smoking to stay healthy. Thought for the day: Give up just one cigarette - the next one. Read the rest of this entry »

A friend sent this to me. It’s been said that God first separated the salt water from the fresh, made dry land, planted a garden, made animals and fish… all before making a human. He made and provided what we’d need before we were born. These are best & more powerful when eaten raw. We’re such slow learners… Read the rest of this entry »

Here is some information to help you stay proactive - to be in control of yourself and your emotions.
1. Have a safety valve for your emotions. If you suppress your anger and emotions all the time, you are likely to blow up at the wrong time at the wrong person. Express your anger, frustrations, and emotions to your “safety valve” - friends and family you trust.
2. Get plenty of rest. Do not deprive yourself of sleep. If you are overly tired, you are more likely to say and do irrational things. Know how much sleep you need each night. Most people need between six and eight hours of sleep each night. Read the rest of this entry »

Obesity is the condition or physical state of the body when excessive deposition of fat takes place in the adipose tissue.
